
ABOUT
Jacob Zhicheng Zhang is a writer, translator, and researcher working between Berlin (DE) and Toronto (CA). He is currently a doctoral candidate in art history at the University of Toronto (CA).
His doctoral research traces transnational Chinese and Sinophone art, with a focus on conceptualist art education, aesthetic autonomy, and the circulation of these ideas across Sinophone Asia, North America, and Western Europe since the 1980s. He also writes on time-based media, cinema, and mediations of the body.
Zhang's writings in English and Chinese have been published by the Art Institute of Chicago, Synoptique: An Online Journal of Film and Moving Image Studies, Rutgers Art Review, Artforum, ArtReview, Mousse, The Art Newspaper China, LEAP, THE SEEN, and Berlin Art Link.
